Data Protection

The Kent Sustainable Tourism Network at the Kent Downs AONB Unit complies with the Data Protection Act. This regulates how your personal information is used and protects you from misuse of your personal details.

This requires personal information to be:

  • fairly and lawfully processed;

  • processed for limited purposes;

  • adequate, relevant and not excessive;

  • accurate;

  • not kept longer than necessary;

  • processed in accordance with your rights;

  • kept secure;

  • not transferred abroad without adequate protection.

The Act, with some exceptions, gives you the right to find out what information is held about you.  On written request, you are entitled to be supplied with a copy of all the information that we hold about you. You also have the right to stop us using your personal information for direct marketing purposes. You can do this by registering your details with one of the preference services.

Your rights

Providing us with information on you and your business is voluntary. If you do not want us to use your personal information for the purposes described above, you may opt-out by cancelling your membership of the Kent Sustainable Tourism Network, by emailing us at admin@kentstn.org.uk, calling us on 01303 815 170 or by writing to us at:

If you do not want to receive e-mail from us in the future, please let us know by email or by writing to us.

We will not make our membership list available to other organisations. Any reputable organisation wanting to contact members must do so through the Kent Sustainable Tourism Network by joining the forum and adhering to the terms and conditions of this website.

Inaccuracies in personal information

You are responsible for ensuring your personal details are entered correctly on to this website. If your personal information changes or is incorrect, you may amend the information yourself by updating your profile in the members list within the forum. If you encounter any problems in doing so, please contact the Kent Sustainable Tourism Network on the above email, phone number or by writing a letter to the address above.

Security

We use encryption, firewalls and other technology and security procedures to help protect the accuracy and security of your personal information and prevent unauthorised access or improper use. We also have in place physical, electronic and managerial safeguards.

From time to time, we may use customer information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future we will contact you before we use your data for these new purposes to notify you of the policy change and to provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses.
